UK Driver License May Become A Smartphone App

May 31, 2016

Oliver Morley, the CEO of the United Kingdom's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) posted an interesting tweet, saying that the DVLA is working on replacing the drivers license with an iPhone and Android app, or at least offering it as an option to drivers.

The idea is when you are pulled over for speeding or when you need to show your identification for any other reason, the app on your mobile phone would suffice. A person would no longer need to carry around a plastic identification, which of course would be very convenient and would be part of the cashless society of the future. All you would need at any time is your phone… no cash, no ID and no credit cards required.

Of course you might need a battery life extender!
